November 2014
Janine is currently working on various Tweed and William Morris fabric Bag orders for the run up to Xmas. As September/October has proved to be busier than i had originally thought it would be when i made my Autumn/Winter stock in the summer and alot of it is already sold out! So the sewing machine has been dusted down after having a few weeks resting and is being fired up ready for action again. I will post photos as Bags are made and 2015 plans are in the design stage for a new product to compliment things i already make. Bags are currently in stock at ‘Focus Gallery’, Nottingham, Bags, Bunnies, Bunny and Flower Brooches are in stock at ‘Emily found a Thing’. More details are on my ‘about me’ page.
Autumn/Winter 2014 Tweed Flower and Bunny Brooches
New makes, Bags and Tweed Bunny Brooches, perfect for Autumn/Winter 2014
This summer has been a busy time stitching. Bags in new Tweed colourways and William Morris Cottons. Also New for this Autumn are, after several requests to make them, Tweed Bunny Brooches, perfect to attach to a Tweed jacket/coat or woolly cardi when it starts to get chilly. I will be taking them along, as well as a few cashmere/wool scarves lined in cotton fabrics, to Easton Walled Garden Autumn Country Fair, on Sunday Sept 7th, 11 till 4pm. Here are a few photos as a sneaky preview:
New Bag makes, April/May 2014
Another busy few months. April and May have been spent making new bags for Focus Gallery, Nottingham, Emily Found a Thing at Wymondham and Locally Produced for You, Nottingham. June will be spent making more new bags for the three stockists. Then July and August will be making for the Autumn Country Market Fair at Easton Walled Garden where i will be exhibiting and taking new makes on Sunday Sept 7th.
For those who follow my Easter Charity Knitted Chick Event, 2014 ‘Team Janine’ took £1050.75 in chick sales , which was then added to the Nottingham group sales to raise a final total of £4638.33. A great result, made possible by all the many helpers and chick buyers. Thanks to all my Team. It was hard work but this year we had some amazing fluffy chicks, crocheted plume hens, rabbits and crocheted Daleks! Work has already started for next year, but i did have to have a lie down after several weeks of intensive running around delivering, selling, gathering in and counting up the money etc before i could look at a ball of wool again!
Feb 2013 New Bag makes
Photos of new bag makes, which have now been delivered to ‘Focus Gallery’ and ‘Emily Found a Thing’.
For those who know me, each year i organise and knit all year round for an annual Charity Easter Knitted Chick Event. All monies raised go direct to The Nottingham Breast Cancer Support Group.Selling has now begun and i’m still delivering to this years 10 outlets. So having a break from sewing for the next few weeks to focus all my free time after the day job on this event. As its a cause close to my heart, or should i say chest! The hard work of knitting all year, organising my team of helpers, running around delivering, marketing the event etc is outweighed by the smiles, laughs and money raised by this event.
I will be back to sewing, making new bags soon and currently a couple of new items are in the thinking, planning and mulling over stage. Will then make up sample items to test and trial.
January 2014, new stockist
Latest news: Another new stockist of my Tweed Bunnies and bags from January is ‘Locally Produced for You’, Central Ave, West Bridgford, Nottingham. A spring colour palette of Tweed Bunnies bounced into the shop last Saturday and soon felt very at home in a wicker basket. Shop owner Kate has two adorable bunnies so it was quite fitting she should stock my tweed versions.
The end of 2013 and beginning of 2014 has been busy making for my three stockists. A Spring collection of Tweed Bunnies, bags and brooches is currently being created. Bunnies are in the ‘Locally Produced for You’ shop. New Bags made from tweeds, cottons and Hungarian indigo linen which is handprinted, Brooches in Irish Donegal tweeds and some cashmere/wool scarves backed in cotton fabrics are to go into ‘Focus Gallery’ in the next few weeks and new stock will go into ‘Emily Found a Thing’ in Feb.
Photos of new bags to follow in Feb as they are still being created.
New Stockists
Its been a busy end to the year, with two new stockists:
My Tweed Bags, Bunnies and Brooches are now exclusively stocked at :
The Focus Gallery, 108 Derby Road, Nottingham and
‘Emily Found a Thing’ based at Wymondham Windmill off the B676 between Melton Mowbray and Colsterworth.
I have spent Oct and Nov getting stock made and ready to take stock into ‘Focus Gallery’, which include a selection of Tweed bags in 100% wool and a selection of Bunnies, Brooches made from Irish Donegal Tweed.
A tweed brooch i had made was spotted by Rachel at ‘Emily Found a Thing’ when my cousin went in wearing one a couple of weeks ago, after a flurry of emails and a visit my stock is now in this lovely shop. Tweed bags will follow as soon as i make some more as they sell out as soon as they are made.
All this came at the right time as Rose and Peck decided to close their shop this month after a leen year. Zoe and Diane worked so hard to keep their lovely shop open, they were always very supportive. So as one door closed another two opened.
September News
September has been a busy month. My first and possibly only fair of the year (due to the amount of bag commisions this year, but you never know!) at Easton Walled Garden was a busy one. Its a lovely venue, with a lot happening, a harpist playing outside the tearoom, owls, alpachas, beautiful gardens and lots of tempting stalls. I didn’t get to see too much but had a quick stroll around the garden and a peak at the alpachas before the visitors arrived.A great day was had by all. Lots of friends came to visit, buy and socialise and lots of lovely positive and encouraging comments from new customers. Its very much apprieciated.
New exciting news from today is, a selection of my bags and Tweed Bunnies are now stocked at Focus Gallery, 108 Derby Rd, Nottingham.
